Hello I’m Fi Cooper, I’m a potter and writer based in Oxfordshire, welcome to my online home.
I make earthy, elemental ceramics influenced by landscape, nature, folklore and the past. A blue summer sky will show up in a glaze, a nature observation or a folk tale in a decoration, a historic pot in a shape. My pieces are often partially glazed to allow the clay to ‘speak’, they are tactile and decorative. I make mostly by hand building rather than working on a wheel. I hope my love for the craft comes through in them.
I sell through FOLKSY.
Though I’m a bit of a sporadic writer, once I get going I love it! I cover my favourite things, which are – crafts, walking, and books. Oh, and I love trees and all who dwell in, under and amongst them.
At present my newsletter goes out about once a quarter, though there will be shorter notes to let lovely subscribers know about shop updates and such. You can expect pottery news, book recommendations, nature notes, and things that have caught my eye online.
I enjoy reading and occasionally reviewing books – my big reading passions are nature writing (a fairly huge category these days!) and supernatural stories. I write about books I buy, and sometimes people send them to me, which is always a delight.
My review policy is here.

A bit about me
I live in the very old town of Abingdon (on Thames) with my husband and son. We’re near to the downs and the Cotswolds, and within easy striking of Oxford. The area surrounding our home is both ancient and modern. It’s not as near the the sea as I would like, but you can’t have everything can you?.
I love to walk in nature – I find it hugely restorative; by river or sea, up a hill or among the trees. And I love to read.
